Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By using the Aura Books website or the audiobook player (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Aura Books is a free, browser-based audiobook player. The player runs entirely in your browser; no audiobook content is uploaded to or stored on our servers. We provide the Service on an “as is” basis and may modify, suspend, or discontinue it at any time.

3. Your content and your responsibility

You are responsible for the audiobook files you import into the player and for ensuring you have the legal right to listen to them. The Service is intended for use with files you legitimately own, files you have produced yourself, or files that are public domain or Creative Commons-licensed. The Service does not, and will not, support DRM-protected files such as Audible AAX.

We do not see your files. We do not log them. We do not have the ability to police or moderate them, because they never leave your device. Nothing about the Service should be interpreted as authorization to use copyrighted material without permission.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to violate any applicable law or third-party rights.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, its infrastructure, or other users.
  • Use the Service to distribute malware or commit fraud.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or proxy the Service in a way that interferes with other users.

These restrictions are not invitations: they are the minimum standards. We may suspend access to the Service for users who violate them.

5. Intellectual property

The Aura Books name, logo, and the source code that powers the Service are owned by the operators of Aura Books. You may not reproduce or redistribute them without permission. The audiobook files you import remain entirely your property and your responsibility.

6. Third-party services

The marketing pages of the Service load fonts from Google Fonts and may display advertisements through Google AdSense. Your interaction with those services is subject to Google’s applicable terms and privacy policies. See our Privacy Policy for details.

7. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any audiobook will play correctly in all browsers and devices. Audiobook files can become corrupted, browsers can clear their site data, and storage quotas can be exceeded — we cannot guarantee against any of those outcomes. We strongly recommend keeping a backup of your audiobook files outside of the player.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aura Books and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, loss of access to audiobook libraries, or device damage — arising out of or related to your use of the Service. The Service is free; our total liability for any claim is capped at zero dollars.

9. Changes

We may change these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
